Director of Sales

This position is based in the United States and will require up to 50% travel in field

Leads and manages sales expansion efforts, including direct and indirect channels (OEMs, Distributors and Manufacturer’s Reps) sales.
  • Directs and oversees the sales practices, objectives and initiatives of the company.
  • Sets short and long-term sales strategies and evaluates the effectiveness of current sales programs.
  • Develops and executes market penetration and sales growth plans and strategies.
  • Develops and implements sales channel strategies.
  • Tracks and analyses sales and channel trends, results, and issues.
  • Identifies issues and implements corrective actions to keep sales on track.
  • Member of Company Leadership Team, achieves assigned territory sales results.
  • Provides customer and channel relationship management.
  • Recommends Sales Incentive Plans which will drive sales behaviors to meet territory sales goals.
  • Performs project and opportunity forecasting.
  • Anticipates competitive threats and takes action to eliminate or mitigate such threats.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science or business. MBA is preferred.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, including the ability to motivate others and to implant a sense of urgency in a sales team.
  • Minimum 15 years sales experience and at least 5 years of sales leadership experience including direct selling and channel management.
  • Experience in the automation or instrumentation industry.
  • Demonstrated negotiating skills.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • International experience is a plus.
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and to work in industrial environments while visiting customers, participating in fairs, and similar activities.
